Type

Muscle car

The Dodge Challenger is the name of three different generations of automobiles marketed by the Dodge division of Chrysler.

The first generation Dodge Challenger was a pony car built from 1970 to 1974, using the Chrysler E platform and sharing major components with the Plymouth Barracuda. The second generation, from 1978 to 1983, was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. The third, and current generation, was introduced in 2008 as a rival to the evolved fifth generation Ford Mustang and the reintroduced fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro. The R/T (Road/Track) is the high performance model of the Challenger. It came standard with the 383 Magnum, rated for 335hp in 1970, and the 375-horse 440, 440 Six Pack, and 426 Hemi were optional.

Driver: San Francisco

John Tanner's car in Driver: San Fransisco is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. The engine is 440 Six Pack (3x2 barrel carburetors) , it also has twin sqaure exhausts. The car is equipped with a small spoiler, solely for aesthetic reasons. It is painted yellow, with twin black racing stripes on the bonnet and trunk. It has good performance for an old muscle car. To get this car, the player must complete the story. Afterwards, the car can be purchased for 1 WP. It has a top speed of 136mph in game.

Variants

A white Dodge Challenger is featured in the movie challenge "Vanishing Chance" it can not be used outside the mission without external mods and is therefore unobtainable legitimately.

Locations

Driver: San Francisco

Below is a list of locations the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T can be found in Driver: San Francisco

  • Found at Tanner mission markers (Note that the mission will start when shifting into the Challenger, and you will be forced into shift mode once completing the mission)
  • Can be found at any of the garages (only after completing the story for the first time and purchasing it at any garage for 1 WillPower)

Trivia

  • In CGI cut-scenes and promotional material, the Challenger is painted yellow, however in gameplay, it is painted more of an orange-yellow color.
  • In Grand Theft Auto V's Online mode, as part of the Diamond Casino & Resort update, the Bravado Gauntlet Classic was added, if a player chooses to apply Classic Yellow paint, the twin black stripes livery, and a low-level wing, the vehicle can have an extremely uncanny resemblance to the Challenger in Driver: San Francisco.
  • The color scheme seen in the official artworks is actually based off the original Buick GSX seen in the beta versions of Driver.
